Healthy Halloween

Halloween is here and maybe tonight you have some guests at home. Don’t stop taking care of yourself. It is true that a whim from time to time does not hurt anyone but why not having it with healthy ingredients? If we make a cake, why don’t we use some carrot with buckwheat flour and stevia or wholegrain sugar? Would you like to know what are we having for dinner at Believe Athletics? Pay attention. We will prepare a healthy, complete, quick and funny menu for you.

21528aad373b902fe5bc80a62079f9b9For the appetizer, we will prepare a pumpkin hummus. It has exactly the same ingredients as traditional hummus but with cooked pumpkin. In the supermarket, we will buy 1 jar of cooked chickpeas, 1 small pumpkin, tahini sauce or sesame seeds, garlic, ground cumin, lemon and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. We emptied the pumpkin and cook the pulp. Then we need to remove the water from the chickpeas and blend them with the pumpkin. Add a teaspoon of tahini (if you don’t find it in the supermarket go to the herbalist), a clove of minced garlic, a teaspoon of ground cumin (you can add a little more when you finish if you want to enhance its flavour), a stream of lemon, another of oil and a teaspoon of sweet paprika. We beat everything and dumped it in the pumpkin that we emptied at the beginning. We will use toasts of buckwheat and crudités to take the hummus.

ertyuiAs a main course we will cook boiled eggs and we will give them in the form of spider nests. It may seem strange but if you have children they surely will love it. All you have to do is cook as many eggs as you like and split each one into two halves. To make them peeling easier, cook them with a little bit of salt. In the middle of the yolk we will place a half of black olive. It will be the body of the spider. With the other half we will make the legs. If you use mayonnaise for this dish, we recommend you to prepare it at home.

We need tangerines, which we will serve as pumpkins, as you can see in the picture. We will also make ghosts with banana. We split them into two parts and decorate them with cacao nibs previously melted.
